The ‘British Warm’ overcoat is one of the most traditional British overcoat designs. It was a style that was originally made for British Army officers, before becoming popular as a civilian coat in the second half of the 20th Century. The look was so distinctive that filmmakers regularly used it as a way of showing that a character was a former army officer. Civilian versions of the style often had breast pockets and didn’t have epaulettes (like this version), but always retained the distinctive leather ‘football buttons’. This coat dates from the 1950s/1960s.
Size: Marked size 38 – Chest (measured pit to pit) = 23inches/Shoulders = 19.5 inches/Sleeves = 25.5 inches/Length = 40 inches
Condition: Good (N.B. It has a few moth nips on the rear of the collar – see photos. It is also missing a cuff button, however two alternative buttons are in the coat pocket)
