This is a rare example of a British 1950s waistcoat made for the Hepworths clothing brand. During the 1950s, in the aftermath of the late 1940s Edwardian revival, British youths adopted elements of the look, becoming known as ‘Teddy Boys’. One of the elements of the Edwardian revival that they adopted was the contrasting waistcoat, often in fancy pattern. Made from ‘Tricel’, with an elasticated back, and the straight hem that was popular feature of the period, this is a rare survivor of that era.
