Here are three vintage British ties from the 1930s to 1960s. This selection of ties is designed to give the buyer a selection of colours and styles. The checked tie was made from English silk for the Austin Reed menswear store. The plaid tie does not have a maker’s label but is made from wool and most likely dates from the 1950s/1960s. The putty-coloured tie is a genuine rarity. It was made for the shop ‘Meakers of Piccadilly’ and both ends are the same width. The ‘Dubble’ tie was a patented design that was intended to extend the life of the tie, the idea being that if you get a stain on the tie you simply re-knot the tie and show the other blade!
