The Covert Coat is a classic British style, an overcoat with its origins in equestrian wear, which can be easily recognised by the rings of stitching around the cuffs and hem which were intended for reinforcement of the garment. The name ‘covert’ is derived from the French word 'couvert', a place of a shelter or a hiding place for the game pursued by huntsmen. The fabric, made from tightly spun fibres, is known for its unique texture and high-quality finish, making it ideal for providing warmth and a refined appearance. This modern example (most likely from the 1980s/1990s) comes in a medium weight covert cloth, has a luxurious velvet collar, and fly front, along with breast and ticket pockets.

Size: Marked size 42. Chest (measured pit to pit) = 23.5 inches/Shoulders = 21 inches/Sleeve = 26inches/Length = 40 inches.

Condition: Very Good. The coat does not appear to have had any wear and still has an envelope containing replacement buttons in the interior pocket.
